Community Guidelines
Churchd is a place to find a church and stay close to your church family. People of every age use it, including teenagers, older adults, and people going through hard times. These guidelines explain how we look after each other here. They are part of our Terms of Service.
If you or someone else is in danger
If you're thinking about suicide or hurting yourself, or you're worried about someone, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, US) any time.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. Churchd is not an emergency service.
Be kind
Disagree gently, pray generously, and treat everyone with respect, including people from other churches and traditions.
- No harassment or bullying, and no piling on someone.
- No threats, and nothing that encourages violence or self-harm.
- No hate speech or slurs about anyone's race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender, sexual orientation, or age.
- Quoting Scripture is always welcome. Using it to attack a person is not.
Keep everyone safe, especially children
- No sexual content, and nothing that sexualizes a child. We report child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and to law enforcement.
- Don't ask someone you don't know, especially a young person, to meet in private, move to another app, or keep secrets from their parents or church.
- Don't share anyone's address, phone number, or other private details without their permission.
- Prayer requests are often personal. Don't copy or share someone's request outside Churchd.
- On the community board, childcare listings are paused for now. For rides, meet first at church or another public place and tell someone your plans.
Be yourself, and be honest
- Use your own name. Don't pretend to be another person, a church, or Churchd staff.
- Only a church's approved leaders can post as that church. Leaders show a small check next to their name.
- No scams, no requests for money from people you don't know, and no spam or advertising. The community board is for free help and free items.
Messages
If you message someone who isn't your friend yet, your first message arrives as a request. They can accept it, decline it, block you, or report it. You can't send more until they accept. Group chat leaders invite people, and you choose whether to join.
You can block anyone at any time. When you block someone, they can't message you or comment on your posts.
What happens when you report something
- Open the post, comment, conversation, or profile, tap the menu (the three dots), and choose Report.
- Your report is private. We never tell anyone who sent it.
- When you report a conversation, you choose whether to include its latest messages. Only our safety team reads them, and we can't read your private conversations otherwise.
- A person on our team reviews every report. We aim to act within 24 hours.
- If something goes against these guidelines, we remove it. Depending on what happened, we may warn the person, suspend the account, or close it for good. We have zero tolerance for abuse, threats, sexual content involving minors, and scams.
- When the law requires it, or someone may be in danger, we contact the authorities.
Can't report something in the app? Email support@churchd.com with a description and a screenshot if you have one.
If we removed something of yours
If you think we made a mistake, email support@churchd.com from the address on your account. Tell us what was removed and why you think it should come back. A person will look at it again.
For church leaders
If you lead a church on Churchd, you can manage your church's group chats and remove messages in them. Please follow your church's own safeguarding policies, especially for anything involving children and youth.
